Information about joining the Girls Lacrosse Team at LASA/LBJ:
Interested in joining our team? We welcome any girl student from LASA or LBJ to come try out our team!
Our team generally starts practices in the fall. Fall practices are focused on conditioning and learning lacrosse skills and beginners are encouraged to come out and learn how to play the game. The "real" season starts in the spring (approx. end of January to mid-April). The team is a great bunch of girls and families: students who work hard on and off the field! Girls are eligible to earn Off-Campus PE (OCPE) credit for participating in the spring semester and the team will help do all of the paperwork for a fee of around $75.
We are starting Fall 2014 with practice on Saturdays, from 8-11am at LASA, the field is behind the school, near the corner of Pecan Brook Dr. & Tumbleweed Dr. You do not have to bring your own equipment yet, unless you have it, but dress in running shoes and exercise clothes. Coaches also like you to bring cleats if you have them. Buying even a cheap mouthgard for yourself is useful even if you're not sure you want to invest in any of the other equipment yet.
Lacrosse at LASA is a club sport and is run by a volunteer parent board. We pay our coaches a stipend and to do so, and cover other expenses, girls pay dues to the team, dues are set at $475 for the upcoming 2014-2015 year. This will cover the cost of a uniform for any new players and new team socks for everyone on the team. Please note that our team does have scholarships available to girls who cannot pay the dues amount and payment plans are also available by discussing your situation privately with our team treasurer.
Please see "Contact Us" to get on our email list, Facebook group and ask any further questions or just come on out and join us at a Saturday practice!
